Hi all,

I've been on my ranger for a while now, and I wanted to do some farming. Heard ppl say its good for making money etc.

But after doing some research, I think there arent much places where the ranger can farm..

The ranger used to farm the UW by trapping, but that's nerfed..

Is the ranger suitable for farming? Or should I try to make money on an other character?

Rangers can Raptor farm (R/E), a good way to get money

also be an help in DoA with spirits (tho many ppl uses heroes,me thinks)

Well rangers can farm loads of things with the SoS spirit farmer build, including UW and FoW.
You can also farm FoW with a barrage build. (forgot the excact build but I believe its on Pvx.) With that method you can farm The Beach and The Forest in FoW.

Rangers can also use skills from other profession like Spoil Victor/Spitefull Spirit to farm bosses in HM for elite tomes and greens.
A populair green is the totem axe which is easily farmable with a ranger, the build for it is on Pvx.

Trapping in UW still works, but you just need to to do it as a team now.
Trapping in a group also works for farming Stygian gems in the Domain of Anguish.

When using skills from elementalist you can farm The Halycon job which gives a chance for a Dragon staff drop.

Rangers can solo trap UW just fine, even in hard mode. There are a few builds that can do it. Solo trapping Stygian Veil can also be done in hard mode.

Go to an area with all melee/ranged attacks (no magic), use Dwarven Stability, Whirling Defenses, and self-heals and get in the middle of the mobs on HM, they all die fast

Rangers can farm feathers in Jaya Bluffs (R/E or R/Rt VwK) or Nahpui Quarter(R/W).

I've only ever player Ranger in PvE and I've never had an issue with making Money.

Ther is a shit ton Rangers can farm theses days with the R/Rt spirit spammer build, even more and faster when done duo or triple team.

You can also run a Touch Ranger on a number of things.

Sadly very few Ranger Solo Farming builds are done with points in Marksmanship. But there are a few places that can be Barraged.

Why? In case you haven't noticed, spirit spam is slow. Moving to Spawning just makes it Ritualist only. Ritualists already have the strongest Signet of Spirits builds.

Aren't that slow really, but I know what you mean I think. My biggest concern is why should a skill bar filled entirely with secondary profession skills be able to do what a spirit spammer build can? It's nothing against it, I just disagree with its capabilities as a secondary.

One that hasn't been mentioned, a ranger can farm the forest in FoW solo with Burning Arrow, and probably in HM as well. The build is on pvx wiki (or it was). The only downside is the run to the forest, which can be tricky if not done right.

R/E Raptor Farming is also lucrative, as is feather farming. Farming Nicholas items with the SoS build is also pretty nice money.

Thanks to The Rangers Core Attribute a Ranger does not need the energy management bar compressing skills a Rit needs.

. I think you misunderstand what I said though. I hate how a bar of all secondary profession skills, when used on ANY Primary, can do what spirit spamming can.

I just went to ToA, to get in a group for FoW or UW. But I didnt get in a party :S And I only saw Necro's, Monks and Ritualists.

But I still need to try trapping at UW. Will do soon.

I wrote a guide with the build I use to solo trap UW here. I have not tried it since the Skeletons of Dhuum update, but I am confident it will still work. Just trap at projectile range from your spirit, and the skeleton will stop to attack your spirit and explode. Unfortunately, I do not know the precise attack range for skeletons.

Yes, everything in that thread works, but I haven't updated it in a long time. I tested everything in hard mode. I don't recommend the original build where I used a hero to echo Energizing Wind, but even that build "works."
